For Assassin’s Creed 3, we were challenged with presenting the American Revolution brutally and viscerally—something you would never find in any high school history book. Adopting the letter-writing narrative technique afforded us the freedom to highlight our best gameplay sequences as flashbacks in a logical yet non-linear fashion. Echoing the iconic tone of the Declaration of Independence was a memorable storytelling device which drove home the campaign’s creative message and historic theme. As a direct result of this campaign, we grew our franchise base 120% at a time in the industry when flat sales year-over-year was considered a success. We also won numerous awards including bronze at the Game Marketing Summit for best ad of the year.
